A highlight of the 2nd Ordinary Congress of Les Démocrates party. The Nigerian delegation of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), led by Prince Henry AMIKE, made a strong impression with a message of tribute and Pan-African.
Arriving to take part in the political journey of democracy in West Africa, the delegation first honored the memory of an icon, M.K.O Abiola. In a second intervention, the head of delegation was more explicit about the purpose of his visit. "My respect also goes to my brother sitting in front of me here, the president of this great party, Les Démocrates party, Nourénou Atchadé. [...] Our objective in coming here is to have a collaboration with this great party, so that the SDP of Nigeria can have a relationship with your country and with your party," he said.
The Nigerian representative, Honorable Prince Henry Amike, presented his party's fight: "As a democratic party in Nigeria, we are trying to bring about great change. We are fighting to change the way politics is done in Nigeria," the lawmaker confided before affirming the similarity he sees between his party and that of Cotonou which invited him. "What is happening in this Les Démocrates party is what we are trying to do in the Social Democratic Party in Nigeria."
"We are with you 100%" and invitation to Abuja
In the third part of his intervention, the delegation affirmed its total support for the Beninese party and announced the burning political news in Nigeria. "We are watching you very silently, we are watching you very closely. I want to tell you today, Mr. President, that we are with you one hundred percent in whatever you are doing," he said. Announcing the Nigerian presidential election in three months, the SDP officially invited the leadership of Les Démocrates to Nigeria. "Our election is coming up in three months in Nigeria. I will use this opportunity to extend our invitation to you to come to Nigeria when we are doing the inauguration at the end of this month, you and your team," he addressed to Nourénou Atchadé. A strong message that announces the rapprochement between the two formations of the sub-region, around the same vision: restoring social democracy in West Africa.
